The ASU Club Baseball team scored 27 runs in a 3 game sweep of U of A.
The first game was a real pitcher’s dual with ASU and pitcher, Riley Barrett, coming out victorious 1-0. ASU’s 1 hit, 7 walks and a HBP were enough to get the win. Xavier Sauceda was 1/1 and 2 walks. Riley pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits, while striking out 13 and walking 2. Taylor Cipriano and Will Case combined to close out the 7th inning.
Will Case pitched 6 innings in the second game to earn the win, as ASU Club ball won 5-2. Will allowed 5 hits and 2 runs, striking out 4. Michael Galpin pitched the 7th inning and picked up the save. The offense had 9 hits and 4 walks, with Jackson Dow leading hitters going 2 for 4. Xavier Sauceda, Justin Wood and Sean Bowman each had a double.
The Devils bats got going to win the 3rd game 21-11 in 8 innings. ASU racked up 18 hits in the game, with 8 players having multiple hits and Zachary O’Dell adding a double. Xavier Sauceda led the team going 3/4, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI’s. 4 pitchers, David Zona, Johnny Lambert, Quin Garstka and Ryan Retzloff, combined to secure the win, with Lambert picking up the win.
